20th anniversary - the future

E.ON has produced a special animated film to mark the 20th anniversary since the privatisation of the UK energy industry.

Featuring a range of customers, energy experts and a special guest in the form of seven-year-old Lola Cleary, the film has been developed around real life conversations with individuals talking honestly about their thoughts and vision for the future.

Dr Paul Golby, E.ON UK Chief Executive, said: “Anniversaries like this are usually an opportunity to look back but we don’t want to do that, we want to look forward.

“The first 20 years in the UK’s privatised energy industry was all about big energy – big investments, big power stations, big pipelines and big companies.

“The next 20 years is going to be about change. Not entirely, as we’ll still need big investments and big power stations, but we’ll also need to change the way we do business with our customers.

“Instead of focussing the debate on 70 big power stations, we now need to look at the millions of small power stations on our customers’ roofs, in their garages and in their gardens.

“We’ll sell them less energy but instead service the solar panels and super efficient heat pumps that will help Britain to go green and keep warm. It’s an incredibly exciting time and this film highlights just how much of a watershed we’re at in the energy industry.”

The film can also be viewed on our dedicated YouTube channel – www.youtube.com/talkingenergy. A broadcast quality version of the film is available for download from our Video Gallery
