Offshore wind farm

Naming competition

We invited schools in Adur, Brighton and Hove, Lewes and Worthing to submit their ideas for a name for the wind farm. The competition received more than 180 entries that were shortlisted to four and put to the public vote.

Over 2,500 people voted, with Rampion being the most popular with local people. The Rampion is the county flower of Sussex and was the brainchild of pupils at Davison High School who were presented with their prize of £1,000 by Sussex cricketer Monty Panesar. Three runners-up, the Globe Primary School, Fairlight Primary & Nursery School, and Worthing High School, each received £500.
