Agreement for Lease
Our agreement for lease with the Crown Estate gives us the rights to develop (subject to obtaining the necessary licenses from Marine Scotland) a demonstration project consisting of a single wave energy converter (WEC) or small array of up to 20 WECs with a total maximum capacity not exceeding 10MW for up to seven years. It also contains an option for us to develop a commercial wave energy array of up to 50MW for a period of up to 25 years.

Technology
The West Orkney Middle South site is currently 'technology neutral' and E.ON will be undertaking work over the course of the next few months to identify a suitable technology / combination of technologies to deploy at this site. A decision will be made by the end of the year.
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Scoping
EIA Scoping will commence early 2012, once the technology selection has been made.
