Pipelines

The Pipelines team maintain and operate two high-pressure gas pipelines, the Theddlethorpe to Killingholme and the Blyborough to Cottam. They are a hands-on team who carry out all work associated with the day-to-day maintenance of high-pressure gas pipelines, plus maintenance of gas assets at our Connah's Quay power station and the pipeline which runs from Burton Point and Connah's Quay.

Theddlethorpe to Killingholme

The Theddlethorpe to Killingholme Pipeline is 52Km of 20 inch diameter pipeline transporting natural gas from ConocoPhilips's Theddlethorpe Gas Terminal, through E.ON UK's Distribution Centre at Theddlethorpe, to the Gas Reception Centre at Killingholme. Gas can also be input from the National Transmission System (NTS) into the main pipeline.

The pipeline has five delivery points: Lindsey Oil refinery 1 and 2, Humber Oil Refinery, Ex NRG Power Station and Killingholme Power Station.

During base load running the pipeline transports about 256,000m3/h at a pressure of 40 - 55 bar.

Blyborough to Cottam

The Blyborough to Cottam Pipeline is 25 Kilometres of 24 inch diameter pipeline transporting natural gas from the National Grid Gas Blyborough NTS junction through E.ON UK's Blyborough installation to a pressure reduction centre located at the Cottam Power Station.

The pipeline then delivers gas to the Cottam Development Centre.During base load running the pipeline transports about 80,000Nm3/h.

Both pipelines and above ground installations are wholly owned by E.ON UK and are monitored continuously by the E.ON UK 24-hour monitoring team based at Westwood, Coventry.
