Site Statistics

Oldside

Location Cumbria, England
Project scope 9 turbines
Turbine height 61m to blade tip
Total power 5.4MW

Oldside Wind Farm is located on an adjacent site to another of our wind farms, Siddick, close to the coast. Being close to the shore the land is relatively flat and low compared with typical hillside wind farm locations, but receives the benefit of undisturbed onshore winds, predominantly from the west.

The wind farm was commissioned in 1996 and is built on land previously used to dump waste and slag from St Helens Colliery, which is now closed. The area around the wind farm is quite developed with factories and commercial units.

The wind farm can generate enough electrictiy to power 3000 homes and saves the emission of 6102 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year.
