We have identified land near to the existing nuclear plant at Oldbury as a site which we believe to be strategically suitable for new nuclear development in the UK.

With our joint venture (JV) partners RWE, we have successfully acquired land at Oldbury through the NDA auction and are carrying out ground investigation works to get a better understanding of the site.

Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC) publishes Oldbury Scoping Opinion

The IPC has formally responded to our Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Scoping Report, which was submitted in November last year.

The Scoping Opinion will help us in the preparation of the full EIA that would accompany any formal planning application further down the line. Strategic Siting Assessment (SSA)

Oldbury has been named in the Government's draft nuclear National Policy Statement (NPS) as a site that is potentially strategically suitable for new nuclear development. The Government's SSA process is working to identify suitable sites for the deployment of new nuclear power stations by the end of 2025 which includes assessing the sites using set criteria. Sites confirmed as suitable will be included in the final NPS which is to be published in 2010.

Both E.ON and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) have nominated land at Oldbury into the SSA. Our nomination can be viewed on the Government's dedicated nuclear siting website where you can also download an information leaflet for more information on the SSA process.
