ConocoPhillips Limited

The ConocoPhillips refinery at Humber is one of the world's most modern refineries and is self-sufficient in electricity and steam. A review of future energy needs identified the requirement for 24MW of additional electrical capacity with the end result being the construction of a CHP plant completed by the end of 1997.

To coincide with the plant construction, a connection between the refinery and the existing Theddlethorpe to Killingholme gas pipeline was installed.

The plant is capable of generating 25MW of electricity and producing over 90MW of steam. It features four independent gas turbines coupled with back-up systems to ensure continuous running even when primary gas supply is unavailable. The four waste heat boilers produce 70 tonnes of steam per hour which ConocoPhillips makes use of in their manufacturing processes.
