Site Statistics

Askam

Location Askam in Furness, Cumbria
Project scope 7 turbines
Turbine height 40m to hub
Total power Up to 4.62MW

Construction began in 1998 on Askam Wind Farm, it took eight months to construct and first generated electricity in July 1999.

Askam Wind Farm can generate enough renewable electricity to supply 2500 homes and displace the emission of over 5220 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year.

The wind farm is not permanently manned.

As is customary with our wind farm projects, the land surrounding the turbines continues to be used for pasture, and a public right of way extends across the site.
