Why Kelmarsh?
We were selected by the Kelmarsh Trust to develop a wind farm on the Kelmarsh Estate in Northamptonshire. The site has a good wind resource, is outside statutory designations (such as National Parks, Sites of Special Scientific Interest, etc) and there are no civil or military aviation safeguarding issues.
Community benefits
The seven wind turbines at Kelmarsh would:-
- Generate enough renewable electricity to power up to 7,000 homes and save up to 15,000 tonnes of CO2 per year
- Provide a community fund of around £28,000 per year for the life of the project (20 years)
- Generate local employment opportunities during construction and installation -subject to the usual tendering process
Community engagement
We held a public exhibition at Naseby Village Hall in February 2008 to introduce the proposal to the local community and provide the opportunity to ask us any questions they had about the proposed development. We also exhibited at the Kelmarsh Family Festival on 9-10 August 2008 and will be exhibiting again later in the year to update the community about the wind farm development.
