A key part of the project will be the connection of the offshore wind farm to the national grid onshore.

The project’s offshore cables will come ashore near Easington, with the cables then running underground for approximately 30km from Easington to Saltend. We have chosen to run our cables underground to minimise any environmental impact.  

The diagram below shows our proposed route and the area we have surveyed to help determine the route with least impact.

A grid connection offer for 300MW has been accepted from National Grid.

Onshore Substation

A new electricity substation will be built at a site at Saltend. This will be the subject of a separate planning application in Q2 2008.
