Stakeholder engagement

Your ideas will help us change energy

There has never been more interest in the way we produce, deliver and use energy. Electricity is and will continue to be an essential part of our home and business lives in the 21st century, so we need your views to help shape our plans for the future. We would like to understand more about what’s important to you in the service we provide, how we can improve it and what you think our priorities for investment should be.

How can you help us?

Your feedback will provide an important customer perspective into this initial phase of our consultation process, we’re also investigating how best to engage with our other stakeholders, so we would welcome your views on this too. We would like to ask you to take some time to look at, and comment on the principles behind our plans and consider our questions below. You can also find out more about our company and priorities here:

Further detail

We will be taking our business plan for 2010 to 2015 to the energy regulator Ofgem for approval next year, as part of our five-yearly regulatory review. Ofgem’s review has three main subject areas. You can find out more about these subjects and our response by following the links below.

Our role in protecting the environment and responding to climate change (PDF, 80KB)

Meeting our customers' expectations, both now and in the future(PDF, 83KB)

Ensuring efficient investment in networks for secure supplies (PDF, 93KB)

The documents above detail a number of specific measures that could add £3 a year to a domestic electricity bill, but would improve the efficiency, reliability and environmental impact of our network. These measures are additional to new investment, which is needed to maintain our current service by replacing old assets and strengthening the network to cope with new demand or local generation. We are still developing our proposals for how much this will cost, but as an indicative figure this could add around an extra £6 - £10 per year or only 50p to 85p per month to your domestic electricity bill.

All of our proposals will be examined by Ofgem as part of the review to test that they are both necessary and efficient.

We value your views on our future

We value all of your feedback, but if you prefer, please feel free to respond just to the questions that are important to you. The simplest way for you to respond is by using the link to our online response form at the top of this page.
