Playing safe

Get my ball back

Stay away - Stay Alive

Play ball games well away from substations.

Don't climb fencesRule 1:
Don't ever get it yourself - even if it looks to be in reach!

Don't poke anything through the fenceRule 2:
Never try to poke anything through the fence to reach your ball! Please remember even damp sticks can conduct electricity!

Kite Flying

What should I do if my kite flies into an overhead power line?

Never fly kites or model aircraft anywhere near electricity overhead lines.

If a kite or model aircraft is blown towards an electricity line you must

  • Let go of the string or any attached control wire immediately.
  • Don't attempt to touch the string to pull the kite free, high voltage electricity can travel down string.
  • Keep yourself and others well away.
  • Ring the number shown on the pole notice for help, we can safely remove the kite from the line. If you leave it hanging and say nothing, someone else could get hurt or even killed by touching the hanging string.

What should you do

If your ball, or anything else falls inside a substation fence then firstly note the substation name which is found on the white plate on the gate to the substation, then call call Central Networks on 0800 626555 (the number is on the danger of death sign)

Give your name, address and a brief description of what is lost and the substation name.

We can't promise to come immediately, but we will come and rescue your things safely, as quickly as we can, and if you tell us where you live we can usually deliver them home for you.
