Green bay

Our commuter plans

When we planned our new head office building at Castle Donington, we had to work with environmental building constraints, including the restriction of car parking spaces. We developed a Green Travel plan, which was approved by the local planning authority, and meant 450 staff on site had to cope with only 300 available car parking spaces.

We and our staff have to commit to reducing our environmental impact for a Green Travel Plan to be successful.

To help make this happen, we offer our staff:

  • Flexible working to avoid travel at peak times
  • Tele-working from home or from other business sites
  • Travel direct to site to avoid unnecessary vehicle parking
  • Preferential parking for car sharers
  • Reward point incentive scheme for green travellers
  • Taxi home for staff sharing transport and stranded due to driver unavailability
  • Provision of shower facilities for staff cycling to work
  • Video and telephone conference facilities to avoid travel to meetings
  • Electronic PC based meeting facility
  • Commitment to improve access to public transport and cycling by improving safety and availability of alternatives
  • Recognition package which encourages a change in behaviour and attitude

Many of these initiatives are available for staff at all our sites.
