Qualifications you'll need

We understand that knowing exactly what qualifications you need for our Apprenticeship can be challenging, so we've broken it all down for you.

The following covers all the schemes except the Electrical Apprentice - Engineer role, which is slightly different and is detailed separately below.

To apply for most of our Apprentice Schemes, you'll need 4 GCSE grades A to C in Maths, English, Science/Technology (which includes any science, technology or IT subject) and any another subject (or   GCSE equivalents).   All of these qualifications will need to have been achieved by August 2011.

So what is equivalent?

We accept a range of qualifications as equivalents. In Maths and English, you may have any of the following:

- Key Skills level 2 or above
- O Level
- GCE
- A Level
- Degree
- Masters
- International equivalent

If you already have a relevant technical qualification, we would also accept this as equivalent to the 4 GCSEs as you will have undertaken numeracy and literacy as part of your qualification:

- HND   or ONC in a Technical or Science subject (e.g. Electrical Engineering)
- NQV level 3 or above in a Technical or Science subject (e.g. Electrical Engineering)
- City and Guilds Level 2 or above   in a Technical or Science subject (e.g. Electrical Engineering)
- BTEC National Level 3 or above a Technical or Science subject (e.g. Electrical Engineering)


  For our Electrical Apprenticeship- Engineer scheme, the qualifications required are slightly different:

To apply for this scheme, you'll   need 4 GCSE grades A or B in Maths   and Science and any another subjects (or GCSE equivalents). Other higher qualifications are acceptable, but they must be in Electrical Engineering. All of these qualifications will need to have been achieved by August 2011.

So what is equivalent?

- Degree (B Eng or M Eng)
- Masters
- International equivalent
