Ipswich Town FC
Why Ipswich Town Football Club?
E.ON is the Main Sponsor of Ipswich Town Football Club until 2008, but we have a long history with the club as the sponsorship actually started in 2001 under the name TXU Energi and then subsequently as Powergen.
Why does E.ON sponsor Ipswich Town Football Club and Ipswich Town Community Trust?
The club is situated in the heart of East Anglia, the home to more than 1.8 million Powergen customers and the sponsorship allows us to create a range of money can’t buy experiences for the fans and our customers throughout the season. These include on-pitch Guard of Honours, Mascot opportunities and Behind The Scenes Tours for local schools. This year we have launched a joint venture with the Community Trust called the E.ON Kid’s Club, which allows children to attend the football match unaccompanied by their parents/guardians, as well as enjoying a range of pre-match activities.
Through our partnership with the club, we are also the proud Main Sponsor of the Ipswich Town Community Trust, which runs a range of educational and skills initiatives aimed at either increasing football participation or raising educational standards using football as a backdrop to learning. This sponsorship reinforces our commitment to the community and helps to increase awareness of what E.ON does.

This year alone, over 75,000 children have benefited from the various schemes run by the trust including 170 children per week who attend educational courses at the IT Learning Zone, a state-of-the-art classroom, based at Portman Road.
At the start of the 2006 / 07 season we also launched a new Community Trust initiative called Activ8 IT, which is a healthy living roadshow. The roadshow visits nearly 400 schools across Suffolk and educates children about the benefits of sport and healthy living. This programme is jointly sponsored by Sportsmatch and broadens the Trust’s activities to include basketball, dance, cricket, rugby and orienteering and over the next two years will reach over 20,000 children in the region.

True Blue
E.ON has launched a new campaign for the 2007/08 season called True Blue, which is offering one lucky fan the chance to win a pair of 20 year season tickets.
True Blue 2007/08 is a season long campaign to reward the most loyal ITFC fans, both adults and children, and ultimately find the True Blue of the season.
Town fans are invited to enter the True Blue competition through E.ON’s dedicated website, for a chance to be voted True Blue or Junior True Blue 2007/08 by a panel of expert judges, which will include Blues’ Team Captain, Jason De Vos. There is a link to the site opposite.
The True Blue competition is open to all Town fans, whether young or old, season ticket holders or occasional visitors to Portman Road.
Save your energy for the Blues
Last year, E.ON, in association with Ipswich Town Football Club, CRed and Defra, have launched a campaign to make Ipswich Town Football Club the UK' first Carbon Neutral Football Club. The project is called "Save your energy for the Blues".
This groundbreaking project asked the Ipswich Town FC fans and the wider Suffolk community to pledge energy saving measures on the Save your energy for the blues website to neutralise the 3,220 tonnes of carbon dioxide that the club generates through all match related activity over the course of a season. We had an excellent response from ITFC fans and the Club. In May 2007, the Club became the UK's first ever Carbon Neutral Football Club and E.ON donated a substantial five figure sum of money towards coach Jim Magilton's player transfer budget.
