- We work to preserve and, where possible, improve the character of the surroundings in which we operate.
- We work with our customers and the wider community to promote practical solutions that will encourage consumers to use energy more efficiently.
- We have Environmental Management systems that make sure we meet – and often exceed – legal requirements and to help us to manage environmental risks.
- We undertake research to understand our environmental impact, which allows us to continually improve our performance.
- We welcome and support communication with all our stakeholders in order to improve our understanding of your concerns.
- We actively promote Environmental awareness and provide training to our staff.
- We report yearly on our environmental performance through our CSR report.
Electricity can not be stored, it is generated on demand. Security of supply is our main concern to make sure you have power when you need it. In 2006 we invested over £1billion in gas pipelines and storage, and we are planning to invest a further £1.2billion in the electricity grid over the next five years, to ensure the security of your gas and electricity supplies.
Security of supply along with Global Warming and energy prices are of primary concern for us and for our customers but provide us with a huge challenge as often the issues are contradictory. These issues bring us, fantastic opportunities to be innovative and to help set the agenda for the future of energy in the UK.
