"Operational excellence cannot be achieved without safety excellence."
We recognise that safety is as important to the performance of our business as it is to the wellbeing of our people.
We believe that operational excellence cannot be achieved without safety excellence. So this year we've taken the opportunity of introducing a safety toolkit as the framework for improving our safety culture.
The toolkit includes safety leadership development for every leader in our business, and is consistent with our goal of being an international leader in safety. In return, we demonstrate our commitment to the safety of our people by promising to:
- Uphold safety as the top priority and a core value to our business
- Maintain an effective safety management system
- Deliver all work in a way that ensures our safety priorities are achieved
- Provide visible leadership to promote safety
- Provide the training and tools necessary for our employees to perform their work safely
- Guarantee all employees the freedom and power to demand safe working conditions, prevent hazards, and correct deficiencies in their workplace
During the past year, all senior managers have attended a safety toolkit session based on questioning assumptions and challenging managers to take actions. The toolkit and the training experience are fundamental to our aspiration of achieving world-class safety standards.
