Caring for our people
"Active Energy is a pioneering and flexible employee wellbeing programme tailored to the needs of our employees."
Wellbeing is a key priority
The wellbeing of our employees is top of our agenda.
Active Energy - a fresh approach to wellbeing
We work best when we're happy and healthy - it's a win-win situation for the individual and the company. So we've developed a comprehensive programme to improve the wellbeing of our employees.
At the heart of this programme is Active Energy, a pioneering and flexible employee wellbeing programme tailored to the needs of our employees. It includes a state-of-the-art, 45-minute health assessment, follow-up assessments, drop-in clinics and seminars. Assessments are conducted at a wide range of locations and, after the first year, 2,663 employees had attended a health assessment, with 302 invited for a reassessment. The clinical data recorded from these assessments will now be used to develop targeted intervention programmes.
Our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is open to all employees and their families. This free, 24-hour counselling and referral service is run through a third party provider and is completely confidential. It offers specialist advice on a range of topics, from buying a home to giving up smoking. Counselling takes place either face-to-face, over the phone, or even online as appropriate. The take-up rate has been rising since the service was re-launched in 2007 and currently shows an 11.72% usage rate.
Our approach to wellbeing won an award for Health, Work & Wellbeing at the Business in the Community awards in June 2007.
