In the business market, our Sustainable Energy Solutions (SES) team identifies low carbon energy solutions to meet customers' carbon reduction targets and energy needs, which can include a range of on-site microgeneration technologies such as micro-combined heat and power (mCHP), large scale combined heat and power (CHP), solar thermal and photovoltaics, wind, district heating and ground and air source heat pumps. Backed by the expertise and resources that a global energy company like ours can provide, SES has quickly established its credentials as a leading player in this sector.

In March 2007 we were granted supplier status for the Low Carbon Buildings Programme Phase 2, a scheme offering grants to public bodies and not for profit organisations. These grants part-fund the installation and purchase of microgeneration technologies. As a result we successfully launched a number of propositions into the public sector, particularly aimed at education, social housing and public administration.

We've designed and installed solutions at two schools and also have a growing pipeline of projects, including an alliance with Barratt Developments to design and install low and zero carbon products into new homes. This is helping Barratt Homes achieve their goal of achieving zero carbon homes by 2016 in line with the Government's target.
