"The school's staff were also thrilled - and even made a cake for the team to say thank you!"
Teamwork transforms school environment
One of our teams recently took one look at a desolate patch of land at a school in Coventry and knew they had a challenge on their hands
And, after a day of hard graft, team members were able to down tools knowing they had transformed the area into an adventure wonderland for youngsters at the school.
The team event, at St Bartholomew's School in Binley, dramatically enhanced the school's facilities, offering increased opportunities and motivation for pupils to get back to nature. Situated in an area where few children have access to the natural environment, we were able to make a tangible contribution to the school's aims of supporting their pupils' development
The team planned and then carried out a number of projects, including a new sensory and vegetable garden and a mudslide and tyre tunnel for the children to play in. Team leader Jacky O'Brien worked closely with the school co-ordinators to ensure the needs of the school were met. The team was also provided with £250 to buy materials.
Team members themselves also found the experience very rewarding and their sense of achievement was enhanced when they were invited back by the school to view a session in the new area.
The school's staff were also thrilled - and even made a cake for the team to say thank you!
