We carry out 35 million meter readings every year.
Our proven expertise allows us to provide both homes and businesses with connection and metering services.
Expertise in energy services
In addition to providing a connections service to residential customers and small businesses, we also offer a complete project management service to property developers and industrial organisations, enabling them to get connected to the gas and electricity networks. Our main focus lies in our home regions (East and West Midlands), although we are now working to develop this into a national business.
As one of the leading providers of data collection services within the UK, we carry out 35 million meter readings every year and have a multi-skilled workforce available to meet every individual contractual requirement. This includes half-hourly data collection, non half-hourly operations, gas and dual fuel meter readings, as well as meter maintenance and repair. We currently work with third party meter readers who help us deliver this number of readings, but our vision going forward is for all E.ON retail customers' meters to be read by our own teams.
To plan for the future, we have started trials of 'smart' electricity and gas meters for our retail customers. This cutting edge technology allows us to obtain accurate readings from the meter without visiting the property and also allows us to change tariffs remotely - eventually making home visits by meter readers a thing of the past. An upgraded 'in-home unit' will also allow householders to monitor and control their energy consumption.
