Pegasus
Pegasus Park is the headquarters of our distribution business in the UK, East Midlands Electricity (EME). It is located close to East Midlands Airport and the M1 / M42 junction between Derby and Nottingham.
The site covers about two hectares, with 44,000m2 of office space with 445 desks and holding 450 staff.
The site’s facilities gained ISO 14001 certification during May 2001.
Electricity use during 2001 was 1,490,806kWh.
7,536.2kg of paper were recycled during the year.
Pegasus Park has a well-established green travel plan for its employees:
- There are 85 registered car sharers, with a free taxi home to anyone stranded if their driver goes home ill, or if they are taken ill
- Flexible working prevents the need to travel to work at peak times; 4 day weeks, 9 day fortnights, as well as home working, are all possible. EME is the only business at the moment to have a written agreement with all the major unions agreeing to the flexible working and travel package
- Winner of the Nottingham City Council award for the Environment in 2000
- A park-and-ride scheme was developed with the City Council - employees park their cars at a park-and-ride site for Nottingham city centre and Powergen provides transportation to Pegasus from there each day
- Monthly incentives - individuals nominate themselves or colleagues for green traveller of the month based on their number of green days (i.e. car share or home working) they have completed
- Lockable bike bins for cyclists
- The local Intranet site links to local transport information.
