Westwood

WestwoodPowergen's Headquarters at Westwood Business Park, Coventry consists of a 3.4 hectare site, including a three pond wetlands development, and houses over 1,100 employees. There are also 32 'touchdown' desks where network connections are available to visitors to the site.

The Westwood building was designed to be as energy efficient as possible and achieved a 'very good' rating in the BREEAM assessment - a scheme designed to evaluate the impact of new buildings upon the environment.

Interior environment

The Westwood building was designed to promote natural convection currents through the entire building thereby minimising the amount of energy used in air conditioning.

Total electricity use for the site during 2001 was 5,578,682kWh.

Environmental monitoring

An external company is contracted to monitor the indoor environment at Westwood, and regularly monitors air and water quality within the building.

Compliance

There were no complaints or incidents on the Westwood site during 2001.

Environment Management System

Certification to ISO14001 was achieved in December 1999, with a surveillance audit completed successfully in November 2001.
