  • Western Kentucky Energy (WKE) plant
  • Located in Sebree, Kentucky, on the 573 acre Sebree Complex site, the plant began commercial operation in 1981 with a station net generating capacity of 454MW
  • Has 118 employees that operate the plant's two coal-fired generating units
  • Burns an average of 1.5 million tonnes of coal per year
  • Pollution-control equipment includes low-NOx burners, a high-efficiency electrostatic precipitator and a state-of-the-art scrubber that removes more than 90 percent of the sulphur dioxide from the flue gas
  • Has the versatility of both barge and truck coal supply
  • WKE has met the Clean Air Act's Phase II SO2 and NOx emission limitations at each station through a system-wide average starting in the year 2000
