Kentucky River lock and dam #7

  • Kentucky River lock and dam number seven power station
  • Kentucky Utilities hydroelectric facility
  • Located at Kentucky River mile marker 117 near Harrodsburg, Kentucky in Mercer County
  • Began initial commercial service in April 1928
  • Consists of three vertical fixed blade turbines with General Electric AC synchronous generators of approximately 680kW/unit nominal output (at maximum head and flow), for a total capacity of 2.04MW
  • Yearly operations are limited to run of river generation from the Kentucky River
  • Facilities include a concrete lock and dam structure about 116 feet long with trash racks, six intake gates, three turbines, turbine superstructure / powerhouse, and discharge facilities
  • A substation and transmission line with right-of-way easements adjoin the site
