The Humber CHP plant is owned and maintained by Powergen CHP but operated by Conoco Ltd on its Humber refinery at Immingham in Lincolnshire. The plant consists of four 6 MWe Tornado gas turbines with four supplementary-fired waste heat boilers burning either natural or refinery gas and supplying up to 90 MWth of process steam at 42 bar and 410° C.

Kemsley 1 and 2, Kent

Powergen CHP Ltd
c/o UK Paper House
Kemsley
Sittingbourne
Kent
ME10 2SG

01795 472221

Both Kemsley plants are owned and operated by Powergen CHP and supply electricity and process steam to paper mills at Kemsley and Sittingbourne in Kent.

Kemsley 1 consists of a 42 MWe Frame 6 gas turbine, a 38 MWe steam turbine and two supplementary-fired waste heat recovery boilers supplying 200 MWth of process steam at various temperatures and pressures. NOx abatement is by steam injection to the gas turbine with NOx and CO being monitored continuously.

The plant is fired on natural gas. There are also six standby package boilers, normally fired on gas, which can also be fired on distillate oil, in the event of failure of the gas supply.

The second Kemsley plant, designed as an innovative solution for using the clients' paper-based waste as a fuel, was handed over to Powergen for operating in December 2002. The plant consists of a fluidised bed combustor, designed to burn up to 190,000 t of paper-related waste per year and produce up to 25 MW of process steam.

Peaking Diesel stations, Yorkshire

These consist of 25 diesel generating sets, located on seven sites across Yorkshire. They range in size from 1.6 to 3.4 MW with a total output of 55 MW.
