Project timeline
The project will run between Autumn 2011 and Winter 2013 in a series of phases.
Phase 1 – Q4 2011 to Q1 2012
- Install Home Energy Management System in 50 homes
- Install additional monitoring equipment in trial homes
- Start to monitor energy use and use of the basic power concept
- Introduce heating control
- Identify candidates for phase 2
Phase 2 – Q2 2012 to Q4 2012
- Upgrade 5-20 participant homes to test white goods, hot water and mobility concepts
- Maintain a control group of about 20-25 participants and investigate changing attitudes to energy
- Identify any changes in cost, comfort, convenience and carbon benefits for participants
Phase 3 – Q4 2012 - Q1 2013
- Examine further concepts during heating season
- Increase complexity of existing concepts
- Upgrade control group to new concepts, developed during Phase 2
