The project will run between Autumn 2011 and Winter 2013 in a series of phases.

Phase 1 – Q4 2011 to Q1 2012

• Install Home Energy Management System in 50 homes
• Install additional monitoring equipment in trial homes
• Start to monitor energy use and use of the basic power concept
• Introduce heating control
• Identify candidates for phase 2
  

Phase 2 – Q2 2012 to Q4 2012

• Upgrade 5-20 participant homes to test white goods, hot water and mobility concepts
• Maintain a control group of about 20-25 participants and investigate changing attitudes to energy
• Identify any changes in cost, comfort, convenience and carbon benefits for participants
  

Phase 3 – Q4 2012 - Q1 2013

• Examine further concepts during heating season
• Increase complexity of existing concepts
• Upgrade control group to new concepts, developed during Phase 2
