Thinking Energy - Smart homes project
E.ON’s UK Thinking Energy project is part of the European-wide E.ON Innovation Centre for Smart Homes and complements similar activities in Germany and Sweden. The project is a genuine programme of investigation looking to explore and shape the homes of the future.
In Thinking Energy UK, E.ON will be collaborating in Milton Keynes with the MK Council, the National Energy Foundation, Truth (a strategic research consultancy) and a test-bed of 50 households to trial Smart Home technology. The insights and feedback will be used to refine the products and understand better how to manage energy use in the home. The Smart Home will use intelligent technology to gather information about your home to give you cost, comfort, convenience and carbon benefits.
It is interconnected, letting your washing machine talk to your solar panels. The technology is plug and play, not needing holes drilled or re-plumbing. It’s private and secure so you and only you can see what goes on at home.
