Who we are
In our previous Corporate Responsibility Reports (2001 and 2002), we have reported together with LG&E Energy Corp., another subsidiary of E.ON, which was previously managed by Powergen Limited. However, following a review of strategy by E.ON in its on top project, Powergen and LG&E Energy Corp. now report separately into E.ON and Powergen no longer has responsibility for LG&E Energy Corp. Powergen UK is E.ON's market unit for the UK.
We produce electricity from our portfolio of coal, gas, oil, wind and hydro power stations, and also operate and maintain combined heat and power (CHP) plants.
In 2003, we sold electricity, gas and telecommunications and other services to three business sectors: residential customers, small and medium-sized enterprises, and industrial and commercial businesses.
Powergen is a major trader in the UK's wholesale electricity and gas markets.
Powergen UK plc headquarters and registered office is at Coventry in the West Midlands. Details of our plant, facilities and other sites can be found in the 'Where we operate' section. At the end of 2003, Powergen UK plc employed 6,541 people.
