Ideas to change the way we use energy
When asked in the survey to rate a series of ideas to change the way we use energy, British children have a number of favourites. They suggest being rewarded for recycling (37%), being able to tell other people to recycle or save energy (35% say this) and having a mini windmill or solar panel on every house or school (34%).
However, the most popular option by far was ‘walking to school’, with 60% of children picking this out as their favourite idea.

Q. From the list, I want you to pick your favourite ideas to change the way we use energy.
Base: All UK children aged 7-16 (524), Brunswick Research.

An exercise was also conducted to understand children’s views on what energy should look like in the future. Mirroring the views of adults (discussed later), children backed the use of more renewable and alternative sources of energy and steered away from the more traditional energy sources.
