The Greens

E.ON view

We recognise that the country is made up of people with a range of different views, outlooks and priorities. At the same time, we need to help keep the UK's lights on and our customers' homes warm in a responsible way.

It's clear from our research, and from 'The Greens', that we as a company have a range of challenges to meet. Predominantly, how do we appeal to the diverse views of the real Peters and Sophies?

Well, we can do that by offering diversity - it's no longer a case of, for example, either going down the nuclear or renewable route. So we have plans to jointly develop one of the world's largest offshore wind farms in the approaches to the Thames and we are ready to invest in nuclear power stations.

And that means we also need to offer our customers choices, which is why we've developed our Go Green offering, where the power is only sourced from hydro or wind and the carbon emissions of gas usage are offset by a third party.

Only by being inclusive to all views can we even begin to hope to square the circle of ensuring security of supply while lowering our carbon emissions and keeping power and gas affordable to all.
