John Crackett

John is Managing Director of Central Networks (formerly East Midlands and Midlands Electricity Distribution), the E.ON company which distributes power to 4.9 million customers across central England, and has an annual turnover of around £600m and has 2,600 employees. Prior to that he was Managing Director of E.ON's Energy Services, which aims to help E.ON's customers heat their homes, get connected to energy supplies and understand their energy use.

John is also the Board Member responsible for health, safety and the environment. He joined Powergen from TXU in October 2002, when he briefly headed the TXU operations before integration, and then implemented E.ON UK's IT and shared services organisation.

He was educated at Hymers College, Hull, and at the University of Cambridge, where he graduated with an MA in Engineering. After postgraduate training with the Central Electricity Generating Board, and on privatisation, he joined National Power. John moved to Ironbridge Power Station in 1995 and was appointed Station Manager in 1997. By 2000 he had assumed responsibility for TXU's fleet of 10 UK power stations.

John is a Chartered Engineer,(Fellow of both the Institution of Electrical Engineers and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers) and a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Engineers. He is vice-chair of the board of the Marches Energy Agency (a charity supporting rational energy use) and has been a pension trustee. He is married with two teenage daughters and lives in Shropshire.
