Matched Time

Beacon Colts FC are the proud owners of a new football strip due to the E.ON Matched Time scheme.

Cliff Mahon, a cable jointer for E.ON's power distribution business, has been volunteering at the football club for the past three seasons and is a familiar sight at Friday night training sessions and Sunday matches.

He began helping out when his son, who plays for the under-14s, joined the club and he now helps with the under-nines team too. During the past year Cliff has given up many hours of his own time to help the Colts and his efforts have been recognised by the E.ON UK Matched Time scheme.

The scheme rewards employees who volunteer at least 80 hours a year for a charity or community group by donating £250 to their chosen cause.

Cliff’s efforts and the E.ON donation mean the club has been able to buy a new strip for the under-14’s team, which the players hope will bring them some great results.

‘We’ve been struggling for training equipment and kit over the last year,’ said Cliff.

‘This new gear will really help, particularly as we get into the colder winter weather. The players are a really great bunch, who train hard and love to play, so it’s nice to see their efforts being helped by the company.’
