Two teams from our Retail business swapped their work shoes for wellies for their team challenge.

In November 2006, the teams spent the day at an allotment in Hyson Green, Nottingham. The allotment is run by Sure Start, a government programme which aims to deliver the best start in life for every child.

By providing adults and children in inner city Nottingham with a safe and friendly place to take part in activities around healthy eating and the environment, the allotment makes a real difference to the local community.

The challenge for the day was to build a raised pond, move a compost heap, build a gazebo and to smarten up the whole site. With so much to do, it was lucky that there were two teams there to finish the work.

Despite the cold weather, both teams had a great time and felt proud knowing that their hard work would make a difference to local families.

As Natasha Scott from the Credit Management team said:

‘It was a fantastic day; everyone got stuck in and worked tirelessly in order to get everything finished on time.

The atmosphere was excellent, everyone really enjoyed themselves and it was great to see people having a laugh and working together.

There was a great sense of achievement and involvement. I’d definitely recommend it to other teams.’
