Fundraising
We support the charitable fundraising activities of our employees in three ways:
Matched Funding
At E.ON UK, we recognise that many of our colleagues have charities that hold particular importance for them and Matched Funding is a great way for us to help our employees raise funds for those charities.
For every penny that an employee raises for their nominated charity or not-for-profit organisation, E.ON UK will match it up to the value of £500 per employee per year.
Last year over 1,100 employees raised money for causes close to their hearts. These included well-known charities such as Marie Curie Cancer Care and the British Heart Foundation and smaller projects directly affecting families and friends. The common link is that it is the employees who decide who benefits from their hard work.
E.ON supported employees in 2006 by awarding over £181,000 to these organisations.
Matched Time
Many of our employees dedicate their own time to working with charities or not-for-profit organisations and to support that commitment, E.ON offers grants through its Matched Time initiative.
Employees giving more than 80 hours of their own time each year to a charitable cause can apply for a grant of up to £250. The money is then used by the charity or organisation to buy a specific item.
In 2006, E.ON employees gave over 23,000 hours of their own time to charities or not-for-profit organisations. Organisations benefiting included everything from well-known charities such as Guide Dogs for the Blind to local scout groups and sports clubs.
E.ON supported this amazing commitment by giving £35,500 to these organisations.
Payroll Giving
Payroll Giving is an easy and tax free way for employees to support the charities that they care about and is a cost-effective way for charities to raise money.
At E.ON UK, we work with Sharing the Caring to administer our Payroll Giving scheme. We also add 10% to employee’s donations and pay all administration costs, so that employees can be sure that 100% of their donation goes to their chosen charity
