In 2006, under our optional GreenPlan tariff we matched each customer's energy use with renewable energy generated at Rheidol hydroelectric power station. If demand outstrips this capacity, the surplus will be supplied from other renewable sources and then from renewable energy bought from other suppliers. We sold 81GWh on the GreenPlan tariff during the year and for each customer on the GreenPlan tariff, we also made a contribution of around £9 to the GreenPlan Fund, which has been set up to support community-based renewable energy generation projects. We invited local community groups, schools and not-for-profit organisations across Britain to apply for grants of up to £25,000.
