Energy Services

Energy Services: Integrated service provider

Our Energy Services business provides a range of services that allows customers to connect their homes to our networks. These include new connections and installations, meter reading and maintenance, and gas, water and electricity connections.

Energy Services is also involved in public lighting installation and maintenance and the installation, Private Finance Initiatives (PFIs) and maintenance of home energy services.

Metering Services operates across England, Scotland and Wales. It provides a full range of metering activities and services, including:

  • data collection
  • data aggregation and processing
  • meter operations
  • meter refurbishment and repair.

We want to help our customers become more energy efficient, so we're installing 'smart meters' that will allow them to monitor how much energy they use to see how they could use less to save both carbon and money.

We're also working on an ambitious 'token to key' meter replacement programme to help our pre-payment customers avoid getting into debt as a result of price rises.

New Connections bring years of experience to provide home builders and developers, public and private companies, consultants, local authorities, energy suppliers and contractors with a single package solution to all mains and services connections.

From design and planning to switch on the power, New Connections has the expertise to helping customers to complete their projects on time. New Connections also has a specialist team providing a multi-utility service to commercial and industrial customers.

The team works closely with other colleagues in E.ON UK to provide a complete infrastructure solution that includes micro or large scale renewable power solutions.

Home Installation provides a complete installation services for homes and business, including service and repair of heating systems and delivering energy efficiency measures such as cavity wall and loft insulation. The business also works with local authorities and housing associations, providing a complete installation and maintenance heating service, as well as undertaking energy-efficiency measures for their housing stock.

The products and services offered fall into the following categories:

  • Home Energy Services products - a range of energy-related products for homes and businesses, including energy maintenance and repair, heating system installation (boilers, pipes and radiators), inspections and repairs.
  • Low-carbon energy-saving solutions - we lead the UK in developing micro-Combined Heat and Power (CHP) boilers, which not only heat a home but also provide a large proportion of its electricity needs. We also install other local generation devices, such as ground source heat pumps and solar-powered units. We work with our Retail business to install medium-sized wind turbines and biomass boilers as part of the next phase of the Government's Low Carbon Buildings Programme.
  • Energy-efficiency products and services - we install cavity wall and loft insulation, and carry out technical energy efficiency surveys of properties to provide advice and recommendations on how our customers can reduce their energy usage.
