Working with Age Concern

We have worked with national charity Age Concern England since 1999, delivering projects designed to make a difference to older people.

We Test You Rest

E.ON UK has worked in partnership with national charity Age Concern England (ACE) for nine years, delivering We Test You Rest, an electric blanket testing and replacement service for older people. During that time, we have helped nearly 33,000 older people and have uncovered a startling 64% failure rate.

We Test You Rest highlights the importance of electric blanket safety to older people, proving that safety in the home is as much about education and awareness as it is about the provision of free tests and replacement blankets.

We are very proud of everything this project has achieved in terms of business and community impact, as well as the external recognition we have received. We were awarded the BitC Big Tick in 2004 (re-accredited in 2005 and 2006) and again in 2007, and were also awarded the Community Initiative of the Year Award at the Utility Industry Achievement Awards in 2004. In addition, the project has been selected as an example of good practice by the London Benchmarking Group (LBG).

EnergyRight

Inspired by E.ON’s objectives around energy efficiency and affordable warmth, and Age Concern’s aim to increase the health, comfort and financial security of vulnerable older people, we have developed EnergyRight.

This project is based around taking energy efficiency into the heart of communities and working together to offer face to face energy advice to those who need it most.

EnergyRight volunteers are being trained to carry out home energy checks for older people, passing on valuable energy efficiency advice and also referring them on for financial assistance and practical measures where appropriate.

Working together

"E.ON is Age Concern England's longest standing corporate partner. The work we have done with E.ON has enabled local Age Concerns to provide key winter warmth services to vulnerable older people over a prolonged period of time.

EnergyRight is a key focus for ACE and is set to become an integral part of our winter warmth services. E.ON are one of our most dedicated and supportive partners, whose support of ACE has proved invaluable."
