Welcome to E.ON UK's Corporate Responsibility report for 2007.

This Corporate Responsibility Report illustrates our responsible and sustainable approach to how we do business, and captures our performance, in relation to our Changing Energy strategic programme. Changing Energy is driving our efforts to deliver sustainable solutions to current and future energy challenges

Changing Energy is what we're doing. We're aiming to transform every aspect of energy: how we make it, how it's used, and society's understanding of it. To achieve this, we're focusing our efforts in three key areas: Planet and Society, Customers and Our People. Under these three pillars, we've identified six Corporate Responsibilities to drive our actions and to show our responsible and sustainable approach to how we do business.

By explicitly defining our responsibilities, we can focus our efforts so that customers, the Government and other stakeholders will know what to expect. In turn, they will provide the framework and direction for our Corporate Responsibility (CR) programme. This year's CR Report follows this structure.

In response to our varied stakeholders, our CR report is available in three different formats:

• Web-based report, provides a comprehensive account, with charts, comparisons and case studies that shows our responsible and sustainable approach to how we do business.

• Printed review provides an overview of the web-based report, which is available to download as a PDF.

• 'CR in brief' leaflet is a pocket size folded leaflet summarising our approach to CR and signposting readers to the web-based report.

The reporting period covers the 12 months from 1 January 2007 and has been independently verified by the Reassurance Network and compiled using the G3 guidelines from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The report highlights activity across the UK business and complements the E.ON Group CR report 2007 available on our Group website, www.eon.com.

We're continually looking for ways to improve our reporting and actively seek feedback from a wide range of stakeholders about what they would like to see in future reports.
