About this report

Welcome to E.ON UK's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reporting for 2005.

This online report complements the 2005 printed review and covers all E.ON UK's activities in the year to 31 December 2005.

The way we report has changed since the publication of our 2004 report in July 2005. We have moved to an issues-based style of CSR reporting for 2005, which comprises a printed review, augmented by this more comprehensive online report. Using this approach, we have concentrated in the printed review on the most important issues for us and our stakeholders and we are using the online report to provide more supporting information and data on these main issues, as well as presenting our activities and performance in other areas. We have used the draft G3 guidelines from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) to inform our reporting. More details can be found here.

The printed review examines four areas that we believe, from our discussions with stakeholders and our review of our business activities, are especially relevant to us as an energy company:

  • the supply of energy;
  • climate change;
  • customer experience; and
  • employee recruitment and retention.

For each of these, we provide background information, followed by details of our activities and performance in these areas.

As well as the printed review and this online report, we have also produced a summary printed review for our employees. We also contribute to the E.ON Group CSR report, which is available here.

We commissioned Forum for the Future to review our 2004 report and have taken into account many of their recommendations in structuring this report - in particular, providing more information on our approach to climate change and the future of energy supply.

Looking ahead, we intend to continue refining our reporting framework to reflect stakeholder concerns and to engage in a more active dialogue with all our stakeholders to understand what they would like to see included in future reports.

Our 2005 CSR reporting has been independently assured by URS Verification Ltd, and a copy of the assurance statement is included in both the printed review and online.
