Assessment
Four self-assessment rubrics have been provided to help you assess pupils’ understanding of the topics: electricity, energy and the environment, saving energy and safety. These rubrics are a useful way to involve pupils in the assessment of their own knowledge and understanding. Pupils simply tick 'yes', 'not sure' or 'no' for each statement. Additional support pupils may need help with reading some of the statements.
These self-assessment rubrics should not replace other types of assessments made by the teacher but should supplement them. It is recommended that teachers also assess pupils’ learning about energy in other ways, for example through observation of pupils working, questioning pupils, marking finished work and keeping records of how successful pupils are at solving problems.
