The E.ON schools' energy conference
“I found this conference very interesting. I can now report back to my school and we can all help to make a difference. I had a great time.” Student delegate“A really super experience!” Teacher delegate
On 27 November 2007, secondary schools from across the UK gathered at the National College for School Leadership in Nottingham to take part in the first ever E.ON energy conference for schools.
The event was chaired by journalist and TV presenter, John Stapleton. Students aged between 14 and 16 enjoyed a range of workshops, discussions and other activities focusing on the future of energy provision and consumption. Read feedback on the event and see photos here.
Have your say!
Whether or not you made it to the conference, there’s still time for secondary students to put forward their school’s views on how individuals, Government and energy companies should ensure that energy is created and used properly!
We’ve designed a special pack –‘Whose responsibility is it?’ – to help you research attitudes and recommendations on energy within your own school. Students are invited to create research reports based on the activities in the pack. We’ll be compiling a manifesto with the title ‘Energy – voice of a generation’ to convey the views and findings in the students’ reports. All reports received will be entered into a competition to be judged by a panel of judges including E.ON employees and educational experts. Winning students will be invited to present the manifesto to Government later in the year. To be included in the manifesto, schools must submit their research reports by 5pm on 29 February 2008. Download the research pack here and find out how to enter the competition here.
