Our Home Energy Consultants work directly with clients to find the best ways to reduce energy consumption. "I look after an agreed territory. My goal is to try and tailor our products to my customers’ needs. That way, not only are we reducing their carbon footprint, which is a huge benefit to the environment, but we're also helping people to reduce their bills. In fact, we offer a whole range of home and office insulation options."

It's both an advisory role and a sales role. "As advisors, we put a lot of emphasis on working with individuals and finding solutions to help a particular home or business. Since the industry was deregulated almost ten years ago, people have a choice about how they buy their energy. That's why aftercare is so important. It's not just selling gas or electricity, but letting people know that they do have choices about how they spend money. Is cavity insulation a cost-effective option, or does it make more sense to recommend loft insulation?"

Keeping an eye on the competition gives us an edge. "We have to get to know the market pretty well, and that can be a real challenge. But it's important, too, because we want to make sure customers understand exactly what they're getting. We also keep track of our area by doing research on houses that have been bought or sold, what products they've purchased in the past and what we'd recommend for the future. We have to make sure we're on top of all the information that's available."

It's also about growing all the time. "A job like mine offers a lot of variety. Staying motivated is important, and you enjoy the opportunity to meet different types of people. You're in and out all the time, relying on your laptop and mobile phone to stay in touch. And, there's always plenty of opportunity to learn and develop, all you need to do is work with your manager to put together your own programme."
