What are the entry requirements for these positions?
The entry requirements vary according to the individual business area. For our Technology and Innovation placements, we require specific degree disciplines, please see each placement description for details.

You will need to demonstrate customer orientation, drive for excellent performance, an ability to embrace change, teamwork, leadership and an appreciation for diversity and development.

Where will I be based?
This varies by placement, but most undergraduates are based either at our offices in the East or West Midlands.

How long are placements?
Each placement is 48 weeks, we also have a number of summer placements, which are approximately 3 months in duration.

When is the closing date for applications?
28 February 2008; we always encourage you to submit your application to us as soon as possible.

What is the starting date for Undergraduates?
Undergraduates can start anytime between June and no later than the first week of September 2008 , this is subject to agreement between the Line Manager and undergraduate.

Do you offer any Graduate opportunities?
Yes, about 60 each year. We have a wide range of graduate schemes and have a good success rate of undergraduates coming through on to these schemes. If you would like to explore our graduate opportunities including closing dates and application details, please visit eon-uk.com/careers/graduates

How do I apply?
All application forms should be completed and submitted online to allow us to assess all candidates in a fair and consistent way. The application form can be accessed through the Apply link via this website. If you are unable to complete an online application form please call us on 0845 450 3395 to discuss your requirements. We are unable to accept CV’s for the undergraduate programme.

I need a work permit to work in the UK, can I still apply?
If an industrial placement is a compulsory element of your degree (i.e. a sandwich degree) then you are able to undertake this work provided you have a valid student visa to cover the placement duration and your university can provide documentation to that effect.
Please note that should you wish to apply for a position at E.ON after you graduate we are only able to consider applications from individuals who have the permanent right to work in the UK. To have the permanent right to work in the UK you must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Be a British Citizen
  • Have a Certificate of Entitlement of Right of Abode (either in the form of a British passport or have the ‘Right of Abode’ stamp endorsed in your passport.)
  • Be a citizen of a country belonging to the European Economic Area (EEA) or Swiss Passport Holder
  • Have indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK with no time limit stated

How long after I submit my application can I expect to hear whether I’ve been successful to the next round?
We’ll always aim to let you know within four days – we will contact you by email and on your preferred contact telephone number, as indicated in your application.

What is the selection process?
The selection process comprises: application form; online tests and face-to-face interview.

Are practice questions available for the ability tests?
The ability tests include numerical and verbal reasoning skills. The exact tests that you are invited to complete will be dependent on the requirements of the programme. There are practice questions for each test which are not timed and these are available via the website. Timed tests do allow for downloading time so the speed of your internet connection/computer does not influence your test score.

How will I hear if I have been unsuccessful?
We will contact you via email in the instance that you are unsuccessful during the selection process. There will be opportunity to receive feedback from your face-to-face interview– details of how to obtain this feedback will be confirmed in the correspondence you receive.

What training is provided?
You will be provided with placement specific training to ensure you are equipped with the right knowledge and skills to perform whilst in the role.

What is the salary & benefits package?
The basic salary is £14,000 and 20 days holiday plus 8 days Bank Holidays.

Are there any age restrictions to apply?
Whilst our undergraduate programme is aimed at people who have limited work experience, all applications will be reviewed in their entirety and age will not be a consideration when selecting candidates.
