What are the entry requirements for these positions?

The entry requirements vary according to the individual business area. Please see each scheme description for details.

If I don't have the right degree but have I have done some relevant modules can I apply? / Do you require specific degree disciplines?

We require specific degree disciplines for our Engineering Schemes. We also have a preference for certain degree disciplines for our Supply Chain and Logistics, Human Resources and Trade and Risk Management schemes although this is not a prerequisite to apply. Please see each scheme description for details.

What kind of people are you looking for?

You will need to demonstrate customer orientation, drive for excellent performance, an ability to embrace change, teamwork, leadership and an appreciation for diversity and development.

Where will I be based?

This varies by scheme, but most graduates are based either at our offices at Westwood, Coventry, one of our Nottingham locations or Tipton in the West Midlands.

How long is the programme?

18 - 24 months dependent on the scheme.

When is the closing date for applications?

Applications should be submitted by 3rd December 2007, however we will still accept applications up to 2nd February 2008 should we still have vacancies. We always encourage you to submit your application to us as soon as possible.

What is the starting date for graduates?

Graduates will start in September 2008, normally the first week.

Can I defer my start date?

Primarily we are recruiting for September 2008 start date. However, we are willing to discuss personal circumstances.

What happens at the end of the programme?

Your development and performance will be reviewed and you will be supported to identify and secure a suitable role.

Will I have an opportunity to work outside of the UK following completion of my training?

Yes - you can apply for permanent or short-term roles throughout E.ON Group.

Can I move between programmes?

This is a possibility, but will be considered on a case by case basis and at the discretion of the E.ON.

We have a limited number of summer placements available each year - these are accessible through the website via the Undergraduate link.

Do you offer any placement opportunities?

Yes, about 60 each year. We offer 48 week industrial placements and summer placements starting between July and September 2008 for undergraduates doing a sandwich degree.

How do I apply?

All application forms should be completed and submitted online to allow us to assess all candidates in a fair and consistent way. We are unable to accept CV's for the graduate programme.

I have applied before, can I re-apply?

We will welcome application from all individuals that have a passion to join E.ON and meet the behaviours described above.

I need a work permit to work in the UK, can I still apply?

We are only able to consider applications from individuals who have the permanent right to work in the UK. To have the permanent right to work in the UK you must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Be a British Citizen
  • Have a Certificate of Entitlement of Right of Abode (either in the form of a British passport or have the 'Right of Abode' stamp endorsed in your passport.)
  • Be a citizen of a country belonging to the European Economic Area (EEA) or Swiss Passport Holder
  • Have indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK with no time limit stated

How long after I submit my application can I expect to hear whether I've been successful to the next round?

We'll always aim to let you know within four days - we will contact with you by email and on your preferred contact telephone number, as indicated in your application.

What is the selection process?

The selection process comprises: application form; online tests; interview (either telephone or face-to-face depending on which scheme you apply for) and an assessment centre.

Are practice questions available for the ability tests?

The ability tests include numerical and verbal reasoning skills. There are practice questions for each test, which are not timed and these are available via the link you will receive. Timed tests do allow for downloading time so the speed of your internet connection/computer does not influence your test score. When will assessment centres be held?

Assessment centres will be held from December until March, until all offers have been extended. Our assessment centres are held in the East and West Midlands - normally Coventry and Nottingham.

Do you reimburse travel expenses?

Yes. Travel expenses for interviews and assessment centres will be reimbursed to a maximum of £150. All relevant travel receipts must be provided.

How will I hear if I have been unsuccessful?

We will contact you via email in the instance that you are unsuccessful during the selection process. There will be opportunity to receive feedback from interviews and assessment centres - details of how to obtain will be confirmed in the correspondence you receive.

Do you provide feedback?

You will receive feedback following the ability tests, interview and the assessment centre. Feedback following the ability tests will be via email, and following the interview and assessment centre through a telephone call with a member of our Graduate Recruitment Team.

What training is provided?

At the start of the scheme you will be provided with a comprehensive induction including defensive driver training and specific IT training where appropriate to help you settle in and be effective quickly in your first placement.

After the first few months you will start to access the core selection of programmes designed specifically for the graduate scheme covering subjects such as assertiveness and self esteem, managing effective relationships. influencing, presenting with impact, time and self management, cultural awareness, networking and managing stakeholders.

You will also be provided with relevant professional qualification and placement specific training to ensure you are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to perform effectively during the scheme and afterwards and this varies with each scheme.

What support will I be provided with during the graduate scheme?

In the summer before you start the graduate scheme you will be allocated a 'buddy'. Your buddy will be a graduate who has completed the scheme and will help you find your feet and get settled in your first few weeks and months with E.ON as well as providing you with support during the scheme.

You will also be allocated a mentor (a senior manager within E.ON with no direct line management relationship to you) when you join the scheme. The mentoring relationship is designed to provide you with access to a senior manager who can share their knowledge and experience with you to ease your transitions during the scheme. An intended result of the mentoring relationship is that you should have developed your capability, self-reliance and career network by the end of the scheme.

Finally support is also provided in each placement from your placement line manager and placement colleagues.

What happens once I have left the graduate scheme?

At the end of the scheme you will be provided with an opportunity to demonstrate the value you have added to the business during the scheme and raise your profile with key stakeholders within the business while launching yourself into your first substantive position with E.ON.

What is the salary and benefits package?

The starting salary for a graduate with an honours degree is c. £24,000, rising to between £24,730 and £25,500 after one year, depending on your performance.

If you have a PhD or other higher degree that is directly relevant to your scheme then the starting salary is c. £26,000, rising to between £27,000 and £27,725 after one year, depending on your performance.

You will also have access to an occupational pensions scheme; 26 days' holiday plus Bank Holidays; a range of discounted financial products; and free health assessments.

Do you pay relocation expenses?

You will get a one-off taxable joining bonus of £1,500 to help you with relocation expenses. If we require you to change locations for work, we'll pay travel or relocation expenses.

Are there any age restrictions to apply?

Whilst our graduate programme is aimed at people who have limited work experience, all applications will be reviewed in their entirety and age will not be a consideration when selecting candidates.
