PEDS Candidate

"I joined PEDS, as a trainee engineer, in 2005 as part of the E.ON graduate training programme. I was keen to start working towards chartered status but was unsure of how to make the right start.

Today, I’m two years into my PEDS and can honestly say the support I’ve received has been invaluable. My PEDS mentor has made a huge difference to my progress. As a chartered engineer working within E.ON, their advice has helped build a solid development plan that suits me
as an individual.

Another highlight of the scheme has to be the annual PEDS networking event. These events have given me a great chance to meet other E.ON engineers, as well as being good fun. Recent events have been held at Alton Towers and MIRA, a specialist engineering firm with a dedicated race track and crash testing facility. As well as attending a talk given by the chief rollercoaster designer at Alton Towers, we also took on the challenge of building our own rollercoaster and competing against other teams to win some pretty spectacular prizes.

Overall, PEDS has been fantastic in guiding me towards chartership and is a great way to meet new people in the same position."
