Sales is never easy, but there's a lot going for these roles. We're doing great things with energy, and firmly believe we're offering the best products, service and advice, so there's a great story to tell and loads of doors to open.

But however upbeat and positive you are as a person, you're still only human. There will be periods - and even days - when you'll find it tough and frustrating. But we know from experience that if you're the right type of person and can get through the cold patches, there will be plenty of satisfying moments.

And if you're able to find this drive within you, you'll certainly enjoy the freedom, flexibility and security that comes from knowing that, although you're working on your own, you're far from alone out there. You're actually part of one of the world's largest energy companies - and a business that really looks after its people and customers.

Wherever you work you'll have excellent training, regular meetings, coaching time and ongoing support from your manager, a great working environment and the right tools for the job. But the biggest difference is that you'll be working with like-minded professionals who share your passion and enthusiasm to put the customer at the heart of everything we do, earning rewards for doing what's right. If that wasn't enough, there's the confidence of knowing you're working for a 'feel good' business that's optimistic about the future and positive about improving the impact on the environment.

But don't take our word for it just look at what our people have to say about working as Energy Consultants with E.ON.

Being valued. Front-line sales is a highly respected part of E.ON's successful business.

Rewards. The basic salary is higher than average, and there's the potential to earn good commission too.

Support. We expect our managers to be approachable and show a strong commitment to making the job enjoyable - 'Everyone is very helpful and supportive and happy to share their knowledge.'

The 'buzz'. They talk about the rapport they have with customers - 'It's great when they say they are not interested and then within half an hour you have them signing on the dotted line - and inviting you in for a cup of tea!'

Opportunities. E.ON has a clear vision of the future and we're committed to helping you progress through open, two-way discussions about your development and ambitions - 'I'm satisfied and content, and the way E.ON is going forward will keep me here.'

Excellent tools. As well as good marketing support and materials, we provide state-of-the-art technology, including a hand-held 'PenTablet' for Home Energy Consultants, making all the paperwork paper-free.

Training. Our Sales Academy is available to everyone, including encouragement to get full Energysure accreditation within 3 months.

A sense of freedom. The hours need to be worked, but you're the one in charge of the clock - 'Providing you don't take advantage, they (management) leave you to get on with it.'

Worthwhile. 'We're selling somehting that people really need. It's not costing people anything extra, and in fact we're trying to help them save money.'
