Generation Apprenticeship

Choose a career where you're in control

Join us as a Generation Apprentice and in under four years you'll gain great skills in the area of energy production as well as an NVQ Level 3, BTEC National Certificate and an Advanced Apprentice Certificate. These will see you on your way to a full and rewarding career but there is more to these jobs than qualifications, it's about gaining the confidence to take control in any given situation and having the courage to take the lead. You'll often be the first in line to diagnose faults, initiate repairs, implement modifications and be involved in plant overhauls. With our Generation Apprenticeship Scheme, you have the opportunity to train as a craftsman/fitter in one of three technical disciplines:

Electrical Fitter
It would be down to you to diagnose faults, maintain generators and work on large electrical apparatus all of which helps to keep us up and running.

Mechanical Fitter
Working effectively and efficiently on planned overhauls looking after our turbine or boiler plant, you'd also be required to respond quickly to breakdowns, helping us to continue producing electricity which supplies the National Grid.

Electrical Control and Instrumentation Fitter
You'd be repairing the control systems, instrumentation and switches that our business depends on. And you'd also be installing the very latest equipment as well as learning about and understanding new technologies. Click here to view a profile of one of our current EC&I Apprentices.

We are currently closed for applications until January 2009. If you would like to register your interest for our   Apprenticeship then please click here.
