E.ON UK’s Energy Wholesale business is involved in every link of the energy chain, producing electricity from a portfolio of world-class power stations, researching new technologies and trading power and gas to meet the needs of our customer base.
Generation
Our diverse portfolio of 10 coal, gas and oil-fired power stations generates around 10 percent of the UK’s electricity using some of the most advanced technologies in the world.
We are one of the biggest names in combined heat and power, with 13 sites across the UK from Kent to Cumbria and we also own and operate one of the UK’s leading green generation businesses. Producing enough green power to supply the homes of a city the size of Manchester, our renewables portfolio is made up of 20 operational wind farms and an extensive biomass co-firing programme. In addition to this we’re also building the UK’s largest dedicated biomass power station at Steven’s Croft near Lockerbie which will generate enough electricity for around 70,000 homes and prevent the emission of 140,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases every year.

Power Technology is one of the foremost energy sector consultancies providing specialist engineering and technical services in every aspect of power plant development, operation and maintenance to internal and external customers.
As the centre of engineering and technology within E.ON UK, Power Technology also provides effective long-term operational and asset management services for our plant portfolio.
The trading business operates at the heart of the wholesale markets in power, gas, coal, oil and carbon. We negotiate complex multi-year financial and physical deals, trading on screen and on the phone, plan and programme road, rail and ship deliveries to power stations and balance in real time our gas and power portfolios 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
